If I were called upon to give a talk about, “Balance,” I feel that I could put together a good speech that would motivate people to become more “Balanced” in their life! I’d give a few principles that would help people keep their life in “balance” so they could enjoy a more productive, fulfilled and happy life. The biggest problem with the speech would be that I wouldn’t truly believe in my heart in the message of balance, nor would I be able to tell the truth about the subject in the way that people would want to hear. We all want to hear that we can have this false fantasy of, “Work, Life, and Balance!” Truth of the matter is that we can’t. I know you might be reading this article and feeling discouraged already, or a little let down that after all, balance is really a myth. It simply doesn’t exist, and it is impossible to attain.
Why is there no such thing as balance? Well let’s take a look at the priorities of our life that need “balance!” Our Spiritual, Physical, Financial and Family life all needs full attention if we are to be productive, successful and happy. You’ll never meet one person living on this earth that has fully “balanced” these four areas of their life. In fact, you’ll meet the opposite. Most people are completely out of balance when it comes to those four priorities. I’ve met people that had the perfect Spiritual life and yet their marriage was falling apart and they had no deep meaningful relationship with their kids. I’ve also met people that were in perfect Health, exercised everyday and were so broke that they couldn’t even put a milkshake on lay away. I’ve met people that had millions in the bank and literally were on their fourth marriage. So what happened? Where did we go wrong in our quest for balance?
You have to let go of the fantasy that you’ll somehow live this perfectly balanced life. I’ve learned that you need to actually make a 100% commitment to each of those four areas of your life if you are truly going to be successful and happy. You can’t be 25% to each of them and make it. You have to decide now, that after your 8 hours of sleep at night, you are going to spend all 16 extra hours on those four areas of your life. Therefore, daily you’ll find time for prayer, meditation, juicing, exercising, spending quality time with your family and kids, and working hard on your job, career or ministry. It’s very possible that you’d be the first to join the rare among us that have tasted what balanced life would look like if you were able to give 100% effort 100% of the time to each of those four areas. The secret of doing this requires full engagement when you are doing one of those four things in your life. When you are with your family, be 100% with your family. When you are working, be 100% focused on your tasks and actions. When you are praying, spending time with God or at Church, be 100% fully engaged and when you are working out, taking a walk, exercising or enjoying a good quality healthy meal, be 100% engaged in that moment as well. Friends, when you do this, you will find yourself living the most healthy, happy, productive, successful and prosperous life imaginable. God bless you!
